THE ADVANTAGES OF HIGH DUCTILITY
At a national and European level, ALFA ACCIAI and Italian University
researchers have long made, an important contribution to the scientific
investigation of parameters regarding the ductility of steels for reinforced
concrete, highlighting the importance of this requisite in terms of
improving safety in building.
The advantages of using high ductility steels for reinforced concrete
are essentially two-fold:
Safety:
- top performance in seismic areas for all types of construction and
in any geographical area;
- limitation of problems linked with inelastic deformations in construction;
- better absorption of exceptional events such as collisions, explosions, fires.
Practical application:
- easier pre-shaping and laying, considerably facilitating any subsequent
calendering, folding, etc.;
- excellent long-lasting planarity and geometric stability and better straightness thanks to the total lack of residual stress;
- easier cutting when manual shears are required.
